What is BMI?
BMI (Body Mass Index) is calculated by dividing your weight in kilograms by the square of your height in metres: BMI = kg / mยฒ. It is a simple screening tool โ not a diagnostic measure. Athletes may have a high BMI due to muscle mass, while older adults may have a healthy BMI but excess body fat. For Indian and Asian populations, the WHO recommends lower cut-off points as health risks begin at a lower BMI than for Western populations.
