How age is calculated
Age in years counts complete birthday anniversaries. The months component counts complete months since the last birthday; days count the remaining days. The total days alive is simply the difference between today and your date of birth — leap years are automatically accounted for.

Leap Year Birthdays (Feb 29)
People born on February 29 (leap day) only have an actual birthday every 4 years. For legal purposes in India, a leap-day birthday is generally recognised on either February 28 or March 1 in non-leap years — the specific rule depends on the context. For income tax purposes, the CBDT treats Feb 29 birthdays as Feb 28 in non-leap years. Passport and Aadhaar documents typically record Feb 29 as the DOB regardless, with the age computed from the actual date.
